She’s a former multi-award winning film-maker (like my mum), blogging full time, and knows her stuff backwards. Last weekend, she spoke passionately to the lunch time masses of BML16 because she believes in helping others, as any good Queen does. A few hours later, she went on to win TWO BiBs 2016 Awards for Social Media and the ultimate accolade – Outstanding blog. Because she is so brilliant, I thought I’d make her Right Royal Mother’s very first Queen for the Day, in RRM’s NEW monthly interview feature. (Well, why not?)
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE QUEEN FOR 24 HOURS?
Is it materialistic to go on a huge shopping spree so I look the part first?! Of course it isn’t – I’m the Queen after all – who runs the world?! I do! So off to Harvey Nicks it is! I’ll require they shut their doors to host me for a few hours while I enjoy some bubbles and run wild in store!
With VB on speed dial, I’ll order in too, just because – then it’s off to Harrods for my favourite blow dry then lunch at Le Caprice. After all that, I’d being donating to charities all over the world before a banquet at the palace (Justin Bieber for live entertainment) – topped off with Krispey Kremes in bed with a glass of cold milk with the Kardashians on the box to send me to sleep. Phew. What a day!
WHO WOULD YOU MAKE TIME TO SEE?
I’d love some quality time with Obama, Hilary Clinton, Beyonce and Sheryl Sandberg please , interspersed with my favourite people – my family of course – a banquet fit for a Queen before a private concert with the Biebs.
WHAT, AND WHERE, WOULD YOU EAT AND WITH WHOM?
All the above, dining out at my fave London restaurants before a shindig at the palace! Not Windsor darling, we’re going all out at Buckingham! And it’s only 24 hours so London and Obama and co. can fly in to me!
WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE A PUBLIC SPEECH ABOUT?
Well it has to be the democratisation of blogging and the power of digital careers. Queen or not, I’d never stop blogging! What is so incredibly empowering about working digitally is the freedom we have as creators; the flexible working hours, the fact we can work on our own time and terms, publishing when we want, without the traditional media gatekeepers deciding whether we get air time or not. We are our own CEOs or queens-what could be better than that?!
WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR?
I’d have more outfit changes than Madonna on tour because 24 hours with anyone I could imagine dressing me would go something like D&G for breakfast, Chanel for lunch (with Obama et al) VB for a cocktail dress for dinner and Jimmy Choo, Valentino and Louboutin on my feet.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR GREATEST INDULGENCE?
A dark chocolate fountain during the palace dinner. Too much?
AND FINALLY … WHAT NEW LAW WOULD YOU INTRODUCE?
Equality in the workforce with flexible working hours for parents. I might be Queen but sadly we are far from reaching equality in the world so yes, I’d start there.
